So, we finally fought our way to the top of the factory in Hiroshima while the other group fought their way to the top of theirs. Anna had left us, of course, to go help them, but as I later found out, she took a detour down to the ground to help our followers (Ray’s posse, Cesar’s boys, and my own Dahlia, Quinn, and Kimiyo) fight off a horde of hungry dead supported by a few cyberdemons that emerged from the toxic mists of Daitokuji’s wicked city.

Going into the final fights, Carina and I both knew we’d probably spend most of our time boosting others, so she used her darkness powers to make us both a set of shadow-black pompoms. After all, a cheerleader’s not a cheerleader without the proper gear, right? They actually went really well with the black and white Catholic school girl outfit I had on. Very sexy. ^_^

The computer system we had to shut down was in a huge office. It was defended by two BGRs, two gyuki, and a couple of office worker rorbots, and as we charged in, a couple of bioroids and an HKR smashed in through the glass windows and joined the fray. Or rather they would have, but Ray leapt outside and met the bioroids halfway. They didn’t last long. ^_^ The rest of the enemies didn’t take us too long to mop up. The gyuki were really the biggest worry, but I took care of them. All it took was a little cheer and a flirtatious little spin that made my already short skirt flare out for a little cheesecake, and they were enraptured. The others finished them off once everything else was dead.

Once the enemies were dead and we’d contacted the other group to make sure they were at their computer too, we coordinated to shut down both systems simultaneously. Helena took care of theirs, of course, and Ray took care of ours. Adam was too busy investigating some of the remains of our enemies, I guess, and besides, Ray said he had it covered. He summoned the computer’s kami and got it to help out. ^_^.

With the systems shut down, all that remained was to make our way to the Daitokuji’s Hiroshima HQ and deal with the man himself. On the way, we were met by Togo and Oda! ^_^ Oda had some helicopters for us to use, and so some of our followers were able to give us some air support. Rock on! And Togo had some magic beans for us. They weren’t anything like the one he gave Ray before, but they helped us recharge our spiritual reserves and fortified us against the dangers we’d be facing when we faced Daitokuji. Togo’s so sweet and adorable. ^_^

As we entered the Hiroshima HQ, we all prepared for the fight of our lives. Jacob and I bolstered everyone against damage, Ray imbued us with the spirit of valor, and everyone powered up as much as possible. Pierre even wore his Nemean bear suit! He didn’t look happy, but I thought it was adorable in that Conan the barbarian kinda way! ^_^ ♥

The trip up to the roof of the building was uneventful, but Daitokuji was waiting for us when we arrived. He was in a HUGE mecha with nasty-looking machine guns and rockets and I don’t know what else. It was very intimidating. But there were also others too, including a bioroid, a gyuki, a couple of BGRs, and some priests who were performing some ritual to sap our will. It was also immediately obvious to those of us with any occult knowledge that the opening portal to Suku-no-kuni that was forming on the rooftop would allow a steady trickle of shitidama and other titanspawn to flood the rooftop. Even worse, powerful death spirits like shinigami would begin pouring out at any moment unless we did something to keep them at bay…and there’s no way we could face those. Ray could only do so before because of Togo’s bean.

Speaking of the portal, I could actually see Mikaboshi’s face looming in it, drawing ever closer as the moments dragged on. It was one of the most intimidating things I’ve ever experienced…

Daitokuji gave us a bit of trash talk, of course. Defeating us would advance him to the next stage of godhood and would help open the portal for Mikaboshi to enter the world. Then Adam stepped forward and gave a speech of his own. He told Daitokuji that he had the gift of prophecy and could see what the book of fate had in store. He’d flipped a few pages ahead, and saw that Daitokuji was going to lose the fight, and would barely even be remembered for it except as a footnote in the story of our legends. Adam’s so cool! ^_^ ♥

That made Daitokuji pretty angry, and then we faced the hardest battle of our lives. Someone had to keep the shinigami from appearing by performing an ongoing Shinto ritual, so I volunteered for that since I wasn’t likely to do much good attacking anything. Hell, I end up performing rituals an awful lot, so I’m virtually a miko anyway, which suits me just fine. Hmmm. Goth miko. I kinda like the sound of that.

The fight was brutal. A lot of us were badly injured, and would have died if not for the extra health Jacob and I handed out with our bolstering. I would have died if not for that. Everyone laid into our enemies with all the skill and flair they’re famous for. Unfortunately, I became a prime target for the enemies because I’m Amatsukami and my blood, when spilled in the wicked city, would create more shitidama. Ray and I both were immediately mobbed by several shitidama. Ray was more-or-less invulnerable to them, but before long, the wounds they inflicted upon me created more and more shitidama. Bloody and battered, I was completely surrounded by shitidama before I even knew what was happening! I knew Ray needed to keep killing our foes, so I called for Jacob since I knew he could shield me against the shitidama. Meanwhile, Ray came to my rescue (yay!), mowing down the shitidama left and right.

While all that was going on, Carina, Pierre, and some of the others finished off Mikaboshi’s priests, which eliminated the effect that sapped our will and prevented us from using many of our powers. The choppers gave us good air support, blasting lesser enemies like the shitidama and cyberdemons in a hail of gunfire. Several of us attacked Daitokuji, but it was Adam and Cesar together who did the most damage to him. Adam used his powers over fate to make Cesar’s shots strike true, and combined with Cesar’s natural talent, even Daitokuji’s mecha couldn’t withstand the attacks. Daitokuji was not idle, though. He only got one solid attack off, but it would have killed Cesar if not for the bolstering Jacob had given him.

By the way, Cesar’s shirt had the coolest image on it. It was a picture of an Aztec pyramid with a priest sacrificing Starscream (you know, from old school Transformers) on top of it. It was totally badass, if you ask me. ^_^

Anyway, when Daitokuji’s mecha was destroyed, it self-destructed, sending a shockwave of shrapnel and flame across the entire rooftop. Most of my allies stood firm and looked really cool and dramatic as they weathered the explosion, but I’m not as tough as they are. I went flying and tumbling across the roof. It was pretty undignified. >_< Fortunately, though, the explosion also wiped out many of the lesser enemies on the roof. More kept pouring from the portal of darkness, of course, but it gave us a bit of breathing room and let Jacob get to me so that he could raise an unseen shield and let me perform the ritual to keep the shinigami at bay without being molested by anymore enemies.

The next few moments were almost surreal. Daitokuji stood before us, protected by an impenetrable unseen shield of his own, taunting us as he steadily activated his own combat powers. Meanwhile, more shitidama, cyberdemons, and other titanspawn kept appearing and attacking us in a seemingly endless tide of darkness. Fortunately, I was safe inside Jacob’s unseen shield (I don’t know what I would have done without him! ^_^), so I was able to continue the ritual without being disturbed. At some point Helena went down to the combined attacks of our foes, and I know Carina was forced to heal Sam to keep him on his feet.

While Daitokuji powered up, Cesar trash talked him the whole time. And when Daitokuij’s shield went down, the clash between the two of them was a bit like a classic samurai duel (only with guns, in Cesar’s case). There was an attack or two, and then it was all over, and Daitokuji was dead. Have I mentioned that Cesar is badass, particularly when he’s got Adam providing mystical support? Put Adam, Cesar, and Ray together and there’s little that can stand in their way.

Mikaboshi grew furious with Daitokuji’s death, and decided that he would simply kill us all himself. I could feel the darkness of Suku-no-kuni expanding from the portal to encompass us all, but then I heard a cocky voice that sounded a lot like Laurence Olivier say, “Hey, watch this.” Then there was a tremendous crash of lightning and thunder and that’s all I remember until I woke up on a bed in an elegant Grecian chamber.

My companions were in nearby chambers, and as we awoke (and dressed), we found that we were all in one piece and in good health. And we were apparently on Mount Olympus. As we were taking stock of our situation, Zeus wandered into the room and greeted us. Echo and Cila were with him, and of course Echo and I rushed into each other’s arms. I was so glad to see her after all I’d just been through.

Zeus explained that he’d taken care of Mikaboshi, but that he was quite impressed with our performance. He led us into a larger chamber where all of our parents were waiting. Seeing so many gods arrayed before us was quite impressive. I wish I’d thought to take a picture, but I didn’t have my digital SLR anyway, so I would have had to rely on the camera in my cell phone, and that wouldn’t have done it justice.

Anyway, I rushed over to speak to my mother while the others visited their parents. She was quite pleased, in her way, though you wouldn’t know it by looking at her. Even so, we chatted a bit, and she asked if she could grant me any boons to reward me for my part in defeating Daitokuji. I thought about it for a moment, and then asked for the one thing I knew she might grant now if not any other time. I asked for permission for Keiko to marry Oda. And she granted it! ^_^ I’m soooo happy! ^___^

Now I just have to get permission from Izanagi for Oda to marry Keiko… >_<

While meeting with our parents, we were also offered Daitokuji’s relics. They were now a part of our collective legends, so it was only right that we should have them. I don’t remember all the powers of Daitokuji’s relics, but they were fairly potent. Let’s see…there was Daitokuji’s black suit, which T-Bone took (though I think Helena wanted it as well). Elisa ended up with Daitokuji’s katana (she’s amassing quite a collection of weapons…). There was a pocket watch made of several individual pieces, which was apparently a potent Atlantean relic that allows a scion to learn the Atlantean pantheon’s divine purview. I was stunned by all the talk of some Atlantean pantheon, which I’d never really heard much about. The others seemed to take it in stride, though, and Ray seemed to know quite a bit about it. I’ll have to ask him about it some time. I think the relic lets one deal with technology somehow. Anyway, Adam, Ray, Helena, and I think Jacob each took a piece. There was also a bent nail—a celestial nail, actually…I think Cesar got that, but I can’t remember for sure because he and I were too busy discussing who would get Daitokuji’s final relic. It was a black neck tie, and we both wanted it because it would give us access to a purview we didn’t have. I could learn the ways of a psychopomp from it (I mean, I really want the power to guide ghosts through the Underworld) and I think Cesar wanted some of the more fundamental death and darkness powers.

I ended up winning the tie by promising that if he let me have it, I’d wear it for him…and nothing else. That sealed the deal. ^_^ He handed it over, and we absconded with Echo back to one of the chambers we’d awakened in, where I did a nice strip tease for Cesar and ended up wearing nothing but the tie. That’s as far as it went, though. He got a very nice eyeful, but nothing else. I practically had to beat Echo off with a stick, though. ^_^

So now I need to learn how to use the ghost lantern power hat Pierre talks about so much. ^_^

Anyway, that’s about it. Daitokuji has been ended, permanently, and with him the scourge of his techno-demon robots. Or so I hope, anyway. And my friends and I have been empowered by all of this. The growing legend that surrounds us has strengthened, and we’re one step closer to godhood. I didn’t notice at first, but Echo assures me I’ve grown even more beautiful and charming since we dealt with Daitokuji.

Well, now I have a few months off to work on my music and prepare for the birth of our baby. I’ll try to keep you updated! ^_^
