Scion – Petro Campaign – Downtime 1

It’s been about two weeks since we left Red Mountain, and things are back to normal…almost. That doesn’t mean it hasn’t been an exciting couple of weeks, though. I’m still a little worried about Izanami’s opinion of me, but aside from that I’m totally over the gloomy funk I was in for awhile.
Remember how I said the ghost of Oiwa had possessed me in order to reconstitute herself? Well, I went to see Fukuda-san about getting her exorcised. Before I got rid of her, though, I wanted to talk to her if I could. She’s my only real connection to my mom right now, so I wanted to find out if she would be willing to make a deal. Oiwa isn’t the friendliest ghost out there (trust me, I’ve met my share), but she was willing to talk. She agreed to try and put mom and me in touch with one another, and promised not to harm me or any of my friends. In exchange, I decided to let her finish reconstituting herself in my body. As I said, I feel some sympathy for her, and she’s really not hurting me in anyway. I’m more than willing to help her out if this lets me meet Izanami again.
In other news, Mara (the oread we met on Red Mountain) and I have been spending a lot of time together. Like I said, she was crushing on me hard, and I couldn’t just ignore her. She’s sweet, fun, sexy, and utterly curious about the modern world (she’d been asleep for a long time before we roused her). So we’ve started dating. I’ve never dated another woman before, so this is completely new to me, but I couldn’t really think of any good reason not to give it a try. It’s pretty casual and completely non-exclusive right now. So far it’s been fun.
Mara can’t stay away from Red Mountain for too long at a time since her soul is bound to it, but even so she’s come up to Boston a few times to go out. I’ve taken her to some of my favorite clubs. Not just the cybergoth and industrial clubs, but other clubs too: trance and house techno clubs and goth clubs mostly. She loves music and she loves to dance, so she’s a natural at clubbing. Sadly, the morbid goth thing doesn’t really do much for her. I guess being basically immortal takes a little of the chill out of morbidity. She has promise, though. I haven’t seen them yet, but she apparently still has a few bones that she kept as keepsakes from the bodies of long-dead lovers…and I mean long dead. She has totally enjoyed getting dolled up in cybergoth club gear, but mostly she likes it because it’s what I like. She was thrilled when I gave her own pair of goggles. As the number-one fashion cyberfashion accessory, she couldn’t exactly go clubbing without them.
Mara’s really interested in my music, so I’ve spent a lot of time sharing my beats with her and she’s been to a couple of my deejay sessions, one at a cyberindustrial gig and another at a trance club. She loves it. She also loves having her picture taken, so I have plenty of shots of her. You wouldn’t believe how photogenic she is.
Aside from that, she’s really into learning about modern technology, so I’ve been teaching her how to use computers, cell phones, and all. She’s actually pretty upset that she can’t take a computer down to the subterranean chamber she calls home. She actually keeps trying to lure me into her home, but I doubt she’d let me go for a few days, and honestly, we don’t have that kind of relationship, though she does keep trying.
Anyway, in other big news, I heard from Adam. His father, Odin, has apparently given him a big mission of some sort, and he wanted to know if any of the rest of us would be interested in helping out. We’re all meeting at the club I’m deejaying in a couple of nights. Hah! I’m finally getting them to attend one of my clubs even if I did have to manipulate them into it. These guys sure can be obstinate. Most people practically come running to an invite when I flash my smile. I’ll be sure to play the track in which I sample T-Bone’s trumpet. He’ll like that.
